23.02.23 | Since December 1, 2021, the Lette Verein Berlin has been offering an adaptation course for medical technologists for laboratory analysis (m/f/d), which is aimed at people who have already completed their training as an MTA laboratory (m/f/d) abroad and need to re-qualify for the German labor market. In the context of the shortage of skilled workers in Germany, Labor Berlin is committed to driving this issue forward. All five participants from Labor Berlin successfully completed the course, which was only approved for Berlin last year. Congratulations!

With the implementation of the 1st MTA adaptation course, the Lette Verein is the only institution in Berlin to meet the increased demand for well-trained specialist personnel in Berlin laboratories and hospitals, in cooperation with Labor Berlin as a practice laboratory, among others. Labor Berlin played a key role in shaping the adaptation course and ensured that it has been approved for the state of Berlin since the end of 2021. Various obstacles, such as residence permits issued for far too short a period by the Berlin Immigration Office, made the recognition process even more difficult.

Thanks to the efforts of all those involved, and in particular the commitment of the project team led by Dr. Ulrich Nütz, Head of Operations at Labor Berlin, this topic has now been given a new boost, particularly in the context of the shortage of skilled workers in Germany, and has helped to reduce existing obstacles.

Unfortunately, there are currently only a maximum of 15 places available for Berlin, which means that the high number of requests cannot be adequately met at the moment. The great demand for post-qualification is also made particularly clear by the fact that all available places for the 2023/2024 course have already been filled and participants are already being selected for the 2024/2025 course.

In order to better meet the existing demand for qualified specialists in the future, there is still an urgent need for action on the part of politicians. Labor Berlin is continuously involved in this topic and is in contact with politicians.
